After being introduced in a concept form in Detroit earlier this year, Acura has now been confirmed that the 2014 MDX luxury SUV will be showcased at the 2013 New York Auto Show as a full production model.
According to Acura, the full production version has benefited from some significant improvements to the car, including ride comfort, better fuel efficiency, more versatile cabin and more dynamic performance.
In order to improve ride quality and second-row legroom, the third-generation MDX is now using a longer wheelbase, which also can enhance third-row seat access. Not only that, the 2014 model year is also equipped with Acura signature technologies that include Jewel Eye™ LED headlamps and the next-generation AcuraLink® Connectivity System.
Meanwhile, Acura also offers several new innovative features with visibility technology, including Blind Spot Information, Adaptive Cruise Control with Low-Speed Follow, Multi-Angle Rearview Camera and Lane Keeping Assist System.
Detailed specifications, performance figures and gearbox options haven’t been announced at this time. However, the automaker says that the all-new 2014 Acura MDX is powered by a direct-injected 3.5-liter i-VTEC V6 engine that is claimed to be very efficient than the previous model.
This fuel-efficient engine will be available exclusively with two configuration options, including SH-AWD (all-wheel drive) and two-wheel-drive configurations. In addition, the V6 engine also features Variable Cylinder Management (VCM) and is expected to provide more than 310 horsepower and 272 lb-ft of torque.
More detailed information will be revealed later this month at Acura press conference at the 2013 New York International Auto Show, which is scheduled to begin at 12:10 PM (EDT) at the Jacob Javits Convention Center on March 27, 2013.
